Discovering Your Passion pt1

The Basics

Discovering your passion in life is imperative if you really want to have a happy, fun and fulfilling life so don’t you think that it is worth the effort to discover what you are truly passionate about; how amazing would it feel if you could make that the focus of your job/career or business? Are you interested? Well let’s get started!

Look after yourself.

It’s pretty simple but when you start paying attention to your body, and its well-being, things will come to you. Just by getting up off the sofa and doing a bit of exercise every day, it may get your blood pumping and your brain working (and this doesn’t have to be strenuous, just try some light running or walking). Pay attention to your ideas as you “work out”, and a few invigorating things might just flow into your head.

Listen to your inner child.

Did you have a big dream or aspiration as a child or when you were growing up? What happened to it; did you try to reach it or did it just fizzle out? As youngsters, we have no obligations and the sky is the limit, and that leads us to daydream. The problems start as we grow older and “reality” kicks in and the we find that a few of these daydreams need to be put on the back burner for “grownup obligations.”

Become like a kid again; dream big with no limitations and just see how that makes you feel without the burden of obligation.”

Look for guidance.

However well you think you know yourself it is always a clever idea to get an outside perspective; your friends and family may be able to help you recognize what you are great at, and what a few of your hopes and aspirations are. And you may be surprised by what they associate with you, but don’t dismiss it out of hand. By connecting to these individuals, and asking for guidance, you may discover answers that can help you to discover your true purpose.

Write down ideas.

Whenever you think of an idea, write it down so you don’t forget. I get some of my best ideas when I am about to drift off to sleep so I keep a pen and notepad next to my bed so I can jot it down and look over it in the morning! By writing your ideas down, you may be able to identify any recurring themes. Delving into your subconscious to try to discover a secret wish or goal may be difficult, but if you really listen to what your subconscious is telling you, you may be able to discover a passion in life you never even realised you had!

Voluntary work.

By stepping outside of yourself, and helping other people, you may recover some of the joy that you seek. Helping the elderly may be a terrific way to hear about their life experiences and this may spark off an interest that you didn’t realise you had. It can be difficult to discover a passion in life, but you need to be persistent and never quit trying.”

So, what are you waiting for? Once you have a few thoughts that interest you, why not try to get moving in a new career or interest. By taking classes, internships or a new job, you may discover what you are really passionate about and this will make you feel so good if you can make this a big part of your life.

Using Your Surroundings

There are many factors which will determine whether you will be able to get in touch with your true inner passion, but don’t you think that it is worth the effort to do so?

However, working out how to dig out those long-entombed passions and interests can be an entirely different story. If you like to learn visually, one fantastic way to discover your passions is to produce a vision board. These are pretty powerful and you may discover yourself taking steps that will open up your mind and let you relax and allow your innermost desires to suddenly appear.

Meditation, music and pictures may inspire you once you start your vision board; however, a different thing that you might not have thought about is your surroundings. If your surroundings support creativity, they may inspire you to discover your passions.  Different surroundings will work for different people and could be both indoors or outdoors; just go with what works for you. Whether you’re most pleased in a neutral room with passive colors and decor or choose brilliant, vibrant items surrounding you, you need to discover what type of surrounding works best for YOU by doing some experimenting. This is like trying out various kinds of music to determine which relaxes you most.”

And don’t be afraid to venture outdoors too! Take the time to sit in a couple of different spaces, surrounded by different items to discover out what gets your creative juices flowing. Relaxation is great, but the urge to accomplish something is even greater.

Whether your environment makes you want to sing or take a photo, draw or compose or just sit and dream; the idea is to discover the paragon place for you to connect with your inner self.

And remember that you are an individual; some people connect with themselves while they’re unwinding whereas other people need some kind of stimulant to stir their creative juices. There is no right or wrong here; regardless of what kind of surroundings work for you, the important idea here is to open your brain to all the possibilities and move into a place where you may see yourself working toward a goal of some kind.”

When you start to think about creative surroundings you might feel that in order to be creative you need to be surrounded by works of art etc. but in all honesty creative environments aren’t just about the decor, it’s more about how it makes you feel an inspire you.

So if your creative place is sitting under a tree in the woods listening to birdsong, or in a window seat with sunshine streaming in, that’s fantastic. It’s all about YOU and how your place makes YOU feel.

Even if you are not going to make a vision board, it’s crucial to spend some time in a creative place so that you may stay in touch with your inner passions and creative thinking. This encourages a more balanced mental attitude and less tension in your life.

Expand Your Mind

Have you ever wanted to have a carefree, passionate and fun-loving personality, however felt it just wasn’t you or how you were meant to be? This is garbage! There’s a way to have a creative, cheerful outlook with plenty of happiness and meaning in life and to also be a responsible individual.

Expand Your Brain

To begin with, you have to believe and be open to trying fresh things. Is it really that simple? Yes, but the problem is that it doesn’t happen overnight and in todays modern fast-paced society we want everything instantly. But isn’t it worth exercising a little patience for something that can enrich your life forever?

In order for your life to enlarge, your brain needs to expand. The brain need exercising, just like your muscles. The more you use it, the more it will grow to meet the deamands that you are placing upon it. When you are being creative and thinking or trying fresh things, your brain expands. And an extended brain is an enriched brain. And not only does your brain become enriched; you also become enriched, and so do all areas of your life.

It may lead to more passion in life, an extroverted personality or you are able to speak up and meet new, interesting individuals. You may be more experimental and try new fun things, and build self-assurance and self-regard, and all these “side-effects” will bring you more happiness and meaning in life.”

And doesn’t that sound like the kind of life that you really want to lead?

Now, there are a number of ways to expand your beliefs and actions in daily life. The biggest issue is that life gets in the way and occasionally we discover ourselves in a rut that we simply can’t seem to get out of.

And as human beings we are generally lazy and follow the path of least resistance and we have a disposition to put on our autopilot and just go through the, without consciously thinking about what’s going on around us.

Have you ever been rushing home from work or school, and once you got in, you snap out of it and couldn’t recall a thing about the journey home? Your automatic pilot kicked in and did the driving for you, and that’s pretty handy, isn’t it? Well, yes it is but it isn’t doing you any favours. The trouble is, your brain didn’t expand one little bit on that journey home. How about next time, you say to yourself “I’m going to try a fresh road home, simply for the fun of it.” What could occur?

  1. First of all your automatic pilot is off, so you’re now having to pay attention and use your conscious brain driving home.
  2. Who knows what you might find on that fresh route? A fresh eating place you haven’t tried? A re-modeled shop that might interest you? Another coffee shop than the one you constantly go to in the morning?

OK, I believe you get the picture. “Must I keep driving this new route?” you may ask. Of course you don’t, unless you actually prefer. The point is that you tried something different today. You changed your brain in a little way, and that makes it grow.

Another way of making the commute more enriching is to listen to inspirational and informative audio; this could be podcasts or cassette tapes/CD’s of your favourite speakers. All this is food for your brain!

The great this about all this is that once you decide to try fresh new things, who knows what lively fresh individuals and experiences you might meet along the way? And think about how these new experiences could impact on your life and push you forward in a new, exciting direction!

The example above speaks more about the mental attitude you picked out, rather than the modest decision to take a fresh road home. You see, once you begin making minor changes, it gets to become a habit, which leads to greater shifts.

Those greater shifts may lead to all sorts of fantastic things for you. You’ll see more serendipity, creative thinking and passion in your life; you’ll formulate a more outgoing personality and attempting fresh fun things may open the door to meet fresh lively individuals.

In time, this may all build self-assurance and self-regard, and bring much more happiness and significance into your life. You’ll be believing less “I can’t do that”, and more “Well, I can and will do that!”

Your mindset is a critical key to getting all you want out of life so nurture it and reap the rewards. Ignore this at your peril!
